David Moyes has revealed Yakubu is set to miss the rest of the season after rupturing his Achilles.
The Nigerian international hobbled off less than 10 minutes into Sunday's 1-0 victory over Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
The manager revealed afterwards that the striker, who has netted five times this term, has suffered a ruptured Achilles which is going to rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.
He told evertonfc.com: "Yak has ruptured his Achilles and will be out for the rest of the season and Louis has a hamstring injury which we will need to assess in the week. On the back of James Vaughan's knee injury it has really stretched us but when Victor Anichebe came on he did really well.
"Injuries happen in football but we're disappointed for Yak because he is a really important player for us and we will miss him. I have a really good Chairman and board and I'm sure they will do everything they can to help us."
It is a month before the transfer window opens, but Moyes has faith that Anichebe - the only senior striker currently fit - can step up to the plate.
He added: "Victor's going to get opportunities in the coming weeks and sometimes in life you get chances - you have to make the most of them."
